The earth is full of sweet resources! They are limited though and won’t last forever. But exactly how long will they last? And what products will suffer when we run out? Use this interactive thingie to find out!

How do I use this?

Navigate through time using the year-links which are located above the materials. You can also use the year-dots below the year-links.

If you want to toggle the yearly annual production rate on/off, click on the link in the upper right corner.

When you reach a point in time where a material is all out, you can hover the mouse over that material to see what products are affected. You can also hover your mouse over a product to see what material is required to produce it. If you click on a product or a material you can lock the high-light-thing.

This was all made in 2011 by Kristoffer Klintberg for a competition arranged by informationisbeautifulawards.

It was made using mainly jQuery, therefore you need a browser which supports Javascript to use it. The font used on (the Mac-version) is Neuton provided by Google web fonts.
